Frequently Asked Questions from the Community

  1. Covid Requirements on the day? The Ballina Jockey Club adhere to NSW Health Regulations and or otherwise stated. At this point in time there are NO restrictions in place.
  2. Is there a Courtesy Bus availability? No, unless otherwise advised. We do generally do buses (complimentary) on major days. The nearest Bus stop is on Southern Cross Drive.
  3. Dress code reminders? Neat & tidy clothing in general and smart casual in our members area.
  4. Noise from Functions ends at Midnight? Yes we are licensed to 12am.
  5. Have a party of 10, what is better value? We can arrange a Marquee for any size function, but the Marquee costs will be inclusive in any package. For a small group a table(s) would be more cost effective.
  6. Weather, Stewards expect the track for updates – announcement where? Social Media, Website, Racing media.
  7. Horse owners on race day, pre book — entry notice? Pre-booking is helpful and recommended on major race days. Owners will generally receive complimentary entry to both the racecourse & members areas as well as the enclosure before and after their race.

  9. What are the packages for the cup? We have Sponsorship opportunities and Marquee options available, see website or contact the Club for details.
  10. What is included in the Premium Beverage package with VIP Tickets? The VIP Marquee is an All-Inclusive 5 hrs premium Food & Beverage package. It includes but is not limited too a seafood buffet as well as Beer Wine & Spirits.

  12. Where to pre-purchase tickets? Tickets are sold online for major race days only. You can pre-purchase for all race days in the office and or and or at the gate on the day.
  13. How do you buy tickets for the cup days? There is a link available on our website.
  14. Are dogs allowed at the races? No dogs, in the event of a medical need for a dog or similar, please contact the Club in advance. Loose dogs would be a WH&S matter.
  15. Are kids allowed to come to the races? Yes, all are welcome, please note that all participants
  16. under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  17. How to arrange VIP tickets? You can purchase online and or contact the Club directly.
  18. I have just commented on a picture on social Media, can I have the photo? If this is a BJC photo we would be happy to share, however there maybe photo’s published that belong to a third party.
  19. What if I don’t want my photo to appear in social Media? Please advise us and we would be happy to respect your position.
  20. Do you race on Melbourne Cup Day? No, we generally don’t race on Melbourne Cup Day. The closest Northern Rivers based Club’s that traditionally race on Melbourne Cup Day are Tweed Heads and Coffs Harbour.
  21. I have lost a bracelet at the races, do you have a lost property box? Yes we do have a lost & found, please contact the Club for details.
  22. Where does the lost property go to? Lost and Found.
  23. How to I become a member of the Ballina Jockey Club? Fill out this membership form on our website
  24. What does becoming a member of the BJC entitle me to? Entry to the racecourse and members areas.
  25. Do you have an horse manure available for my garden? Generally, the local trainers have access to this product and generally they are happy to allow general public to take away.
  26. Is it a public holiday – cup day – in Ballina? No, the Ballina Cup is not a public or local event day.
  27. Can you tell me if there is a photographer on the course? TrackSide Photography is currently our photographer partner. Best contact is (07) 3216 5685.
  28. I wish to have a photo from our Social Media, how do I go about that? Contact the Club on (02) 6686 0333.
  29. Do we hold any promotions? We can and do hold promotions around major race days, please see website for details (if applicable).
  30. Is there anything planned for Melbourne Cup Day? Nothing official from the Club unless otherwise stated. The Club is available for Hire on Melbourne Cup Day and it can often be used in that capacity.
  31. I was chasing up the winning race record on DVD, where do I collect it? Contact the Race Day office, we can arrange DVD’s if required. Please also note that all replays are available via the website.
  32. I want my company to support a horse race, how do I go about that? Sponsorship is most welcome, please contact the office or see the website for details.
  33. How do I get involved if you’re interested in Racing…? We would encourage people to attend a race meeting and become a member of the Club.
  34. How do I apply for a job? Jobs are advertised when applicable, but you are welcome to submit your resume to the General Manager at any time.
